Take the Fork in the Road

Sometimes in life, we are faced with very big decisions to make: a change in career; looking at what direction a personal relationship is going; or learning how to love ourselves again.

There are times when you may have been agonizing over what to do next. You have a choice to make, and probably weighed over the pros and cons a million times. The anxiety may build up, and it can feel impossible to know which direction will take you to the right place.

Choosing Your Path vs. Creating Your Path

We go through life with an anticipation that the best is yet to come. We work hard each day and do all of the things we think we should be doing to build a good life.

However, there may be a feeling that we are made for more. A sense that we could be doing more to align ourselves with our greatest potential.

There can be fear and hesitation when it comes to making a major decision. Things that hold us back from choosing what we truly want vs. what is easier and satisfactory.

We tend to lean towards what is easier or the path of less resistance because we are afraid to step outside of our comfort zone, and really press into our greater potential.

The challenge that a lot of people face is how to create the change that needs to happen in order to pursue what we really want.

At any given moment, every day, you can choose to welcome the opportunities that come before you.

You can create your own new road to living your best life.

Yes, you can take the fork in the road when the universe brings change into your life.

But, you can also CHOOSE to make a new road for yourself any time you recognize that you want to change your life.

Which Path to Follow

Deciding to create change and live your best life should feel liberating. When we are on the edge of our personal greatness, there will always be a healthy fear. Anticipation and excitement… and yes, change can feel scary. But use that as the motivation you need.

I have lived this time and time again. Not to mention, this is the foundation of the work I do with clients each day!

Helping other people become the best version of themselves and live their greatest potential too!

The work has to start from the inside. Becoming aware of the values you hold, for the life you want to build for yourself, can then lead to more clarity around choosing your path.

There will be work to do, and there will be challenges to face. But ultimately, the best things we want (and already have) for ourselves, come from digging in deep, and choosing what will make us happy and fulfilled.

We will either be forced to deal with change that is beyond our control (that is done to us) OR we can steadily make our way towards what we want and LOVE OUR LIVES!

Foundational Work

I know how consuming and confusing it can feel when you are faced with a difficult decision.

Understanding what to do when the voice inside that keeps telling you that there is something more on the horizon. Knowing how to clearly and confidently act on building your desired life.

The work I do with my clients is often rooted in making choices that are aligned with who they are.

Here are some strategies I use to help my clients overcome some challenges and build their dream life:

Pro tip: Make sure to write everything down. This is your space to freely and creatively visualize who you want to become. Most of all, trust who you are and that you hold all the cards.

  1. Imagine who you are 5 years from now. First, what are you doing? Second, what do you see? Third, what do you hear your closest family and friends say to you about how happy you are?
  2. What are your passions? If you were to express what you love and the things that really make you happy, what would they be?
  3. What can you do starting today, to help you get one step closer to your dream life? It can be one small task. Then build on that task and repeat a new task each day.
  4. Take your time with your decisions and do so when you are calm and able to envision the person you want to be in either circumstance (a choice you need to make).
  5. Find someone who can support you and keep you accountable. This can be a personal coach, a mentor, or someone close to you. Share your ideas and plans with them.

Building and sustaining good habits that contribute to the best version of yourself needs to start right away.

Listen to Your Inner Voice

One last thought to share with you. We can never know the outcome of a major decision we make, but what we do know, is that you have the greatest impact on your own life.

Choosing a direction out of security and fear may result in feeling stuck and unfulfilled down the road. That is why it is so important to listen to your inner voice when you take the time to find quiet, peaceful moments to thoughtfully think about your choices.
