Is This My Life?
Majority of the women I coach, come to me because they have lost themselves in their own lives. In short, they put the needs and demands of their children, partner, home and work ahead of themselves.
Social Expectations
It’s like society has this unspoken rule for most women. Consequently, we need to be the one doing all of the doing, and taking care of everyone, and everything!
I think back to a time when I agreed on where the direction of my life was going, and it looked something like this:
• Get married • buy the house • have kids • put career on hold until kids are in school • clean • laundry • cook • run all errands • join mommy & me groups…
Even though I chose to make this my new life, deep down something didn’t feel right.
Guys, I didn’t like those mommy & me groups!
I loved working. I loved getting up every day, getting ready and making connections and working towards something.
Who Am I?
Now, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved having the privilege of being home with my babies. That is a blessing not many can have.
Therefore, I did what was expected of me, instead of finding a way of being the best parts of who I was, a career woman, and a mom/wife/home-maker.
Guilt and shame prevented me from having the best of both worlds. So, I yearned in silence. The consequence of that… it chipped away at me every single day.
Ultimately, I was unhappy, unfulfilled, and I lost my identity.
Who was I? Why can’t I make this new life of mine work? Why are other women doing it so effortlessly? What’s wrong with me??
My Mind, Body and Soul
After A LOT of soul searching and introspection, I realized this…
𝐈 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐘 𝐎𝗪𝐍 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄!!
Nothing was going to change for me to “feel” better. In conclusion, I had to work on myself to find what ignited me on the inside. To begin with, I needed to uncover my passions, and choose my happiness again.
In order to be the best that I can be to those who needed me most, I had to take care of myself: mind; body; and soul.
So I did.
I do it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!
